If I was an umpire I would call her for an illegal pitch ever chance I got simply because she is trying to circumvent the rules.

I never understand why the coaches put up with that. You have a pitcher you are giving money to, to do a job for you, and because on an illegal motion that pitcher cannot do her job.
Sounds like she is getting the job done.
Bottom line is that it is a rule. Making an exception to one rule opens the door to making exceptions to other rules. Does it give her an unfair advantage as compared to pitchers that are pitching correctly within the rules? Maybe, maybe not. But it is the rule and modifying a shoe to circumvent the rule is cheating pure and simple in my book.
The real shame is all of the coaches and umpires that let it go up until this point...
