Recruited by a college player

I wonder if it is common for players on a college team to help recruit. My daughter got a message on social media from a college player who saw her play and told her she should consider her school and come to a camp. They exchanged several messaged, and all sounds positive. Is this unusual? I realize it could be recruiting, or it could be trying to get kids to come to their camp. Just wondered if daughter should be happy about it.

I don't know that a college player can do this. I thought that the NCAA rule was that if they were affiliated with a program, that they couldn't do this. Of course, it depends upon what year in school your dd is.

What division is it? DD has had several D3 players text her etc... I doubt it's okay for D2/D1.
