Has any one tried to create thier own form of powerdrive system? if so please let me know.

Never tried. I'm pretty impressed by how the things are made and their durability. If you had access to a machine shop and welding equipment its doable though.

There is something called a "pitching plate" that can be purchased for less than $20 or can be used for free at all softball fields

I havent ever tried to make one , but I finally broke down and bought one about a month ago. Awesome training tool that can be used for both pitchers and hitters.
