So I am new to the forum my daughter has been practicing i/r for about 6 months. My daughter plays on a 10u team. Last night her team pitching coach told my daughter she needs to get behind the ball on her downswing from 12 o'clock. My daughters pitching coach tells her palm toward 3rd base on downswing. I am pretty sure my daughters pitching coach is right but like I said I am new to this and any insight from smarter people will be appreciated. Just another note every other pitcher on her team gets behind the ball and snaps up. So it makes my daughter look odd compared to the other pitchers on her team. PLEASE HELP! I KNOW NOTHING!

Pitch coach is correct facing third or even better pulling the ball down palm up. Coach is wanting HE. Tell your DD to nod, smile, at team coach and do what the PC is teaching her.

Welcome to DFP! You've found a great place to learn. I started where you are about 10 years ago and I still feel like I've only scratched the surface. I can say that much of what you find from many pitching coaches, YouTube, instructional videos, etc. is not always accurate. Pushing the ball down into release, snapping the wrist then pulling up hard is taught by many. However, when you watch slow motion video of just about any pitcher with some success, you find they pull the ball down into release with a loose and lagged lower arm and allow the ball to whip out of their fingers. This site is a great resource and much of what is shared here is easy to validate by watching slow motion video of good pitchers. The stickies at the top of the pitching forum could easily be all you'll ever need to learn about this craft. Meanwhile, here are a few videos to get you started:

Ken nice videos, does anyone know how to save them without going youtube to view them. I will use them in the meeting with DD high school coach which is telling DD same thing the op is hearing from their coach.

Be careful with this tactic. Not all coaches take this kind of response very well, and it may result in an adjustment to your DD's time in the circle.

You might need to keep an eye on it a little bit. You would prefer not having your DD getting different advice from different people. Her head will be spinning. If it becomes a problem just politely, they are just trying to help, inform them that your DD is going to a PC that you are comfortable with and you would be happy to answer any of their questions.
