Umpire's mask, shin guards, and steel toed boots...I'm less worried about riseballs than I am about drop balls in the dirt :)

I hear you.... But for whatever reason, the drop really doesn't bother me. I grew up as a third baseman with Mike Schmidt as my idol. I was a good hitter but really took pride in my defense. Catching the drop is fun for me (at least for now). But for whatever reason, I am having trouble adapting to the rise ball. And she is just new at it. Once she gets the hang of it, I will be in real trouble.

I'm definitely the opposite. When mine throws a high fast ball (either on purpose or by accident) it's pretty easy to snag. I seriously can't catch a drop to save my life. I just try to get out of the way. Unless it takes a hop and nails me in the jaw. That was really exciting. I thought I had a high pain tolerance, but it made me rethink that. It hurt REALLY bad, then it didn't even bruise.
