How do you handle another parent trashing your DD?

4/5 years ago when my granddaughter was 9/10 years old I took her to the local high school basketball playoff game and I purposely sat on the opposing side just so she could see how ugly people talk about players. She learned real quick how horrible parents/fans can be.
