One would have to think they are public records, there are state records in our state with names, schools and grade dates for all sports.

Who maintains those state records? Is there a requirement that schools must submit records to a state office?

Also the names are put in the paper and TV news after the games for all sports so that's any interesting point.

What's given to the media is generally voluntary.

I'm not disagreeing with anything, just carrying on the conversation. Never thought of a scorebook as a public record. It's not something that is generally required to be kept. It's something that a coach is free to throw away. Not sure how that is a public record, but maybe I'm wrong.
