Do different pitches sound different?

When it's a mistake it usually has two sounds. A loud thwack followed by a gentle "phuump" sound a few seconds later about 225' away.

Over the years, I have found that velocity and spin rate have noises associated with them.

A sound I've never heard a softball make...almost pulsating through the air.

That was like what I heard from DD's pitch. She was not throwing extreme heat, she has good speed for a 14u pitcher.
