The talent list is pretty impressive at these California High school's. The state tournament must be fun with all those committed players.

Actually we don't have state tournaments for softball out here in California we have section championships. There are 10 sections in California. We have way too many high schools out here a state championship.
12 of the top 20 on that list are in the Southern Section and it is larger than most states - 581 HS's with 802K students and it does not include Los Angeles nor San Diego (they have their own sections).
There is some interplay between the Sections. #3 Amador Valley was ranked #1 last year when they came down for a high level tourney, Carew Classic. They lost their first game to #9 Yorba Linda 3-1 and won the other 4 games in the consolation bracket to finish 17th. YL lost the championship game to Pacifica 4-0.
