I got an embarrassing questing. I the ball is caught by the catcher on a bounce on strike 3, is it an out or does the catcher have to tag the batter or throw to 1st?

"On a bounce" is not a catch any more than it is at any other position. For this situation, it is the same as any un-caught strike 3.

The "dropped third strike" is really the "uncaught third strike," including the one that hits the dirt before it reaches the catcher.
