DD has that kind of crazy mom on her team. Every team has rules,
her coach has few, be on time, etc. one pet peeve of coach is
NO FOOD IN DUGOUT, and remain in dugout for back to back games.

Crazy mom gives her kid a hotdog on Saturday, as she took the first bite,
coach says "get rid of the hotdog-NO FOOD IN DUGOUT" player embarrassingly
tosses in trash.

Sunday rolls around 8:00 start same kid brings a sliced bagel/cream cheese into
dugout, coach repeats message, this time benching player for the game. We win, and this girl
was to be game 2 pitcher (back to backs) Mom brings her an ice cream into dugout,
coach looks like he's going to explode, eyes popping and head spinning on his neck,
he benches her again, (my dd starts). WE have a parent meeting after the game with
coach and players. Crazy mom says "Well she didn't get a chance for breakfast and she
told me she gets hungry between games".. Best part? this is a 16U travel team.

Coach tells her that in the 4 weeks we have played, her DD is the only one who
has food in the dugout-he says 'your kid's hunger is not my problem, I am her coach
not her babysitter, not her daddy.'

Mom emailed coach Monday morning states that he is an unreasonable human being
and she is pulling DD from the team if HIS BEHAVIOR doesn't change.

I can't wait until Saturday!!!!!!! I am bringing the video camera as
this will be high drama.

If the mother is that psycho about her daughters I would recommend she find a TB team they can play on. Rec league softball is suppose to be a fun, learning environment, not high pressure.....just my $0.02

I wonder who performs better, the team who allows kids to snack when they are hungry. Or the ones who forbid food.

I wonder who performs better, the team who allows kids to snack when they are hungry. Or the ones who forbid food.

I have found at the younger ages if they are slightly hungry, not starving, they play much better. Too much food and they become lethargic.

I do not allow food, food in my dugout. However, if a player has a granola bar are something small I'm OK with that. Especially if it's been a long day. If it becomes a distraction I will take it away. Had girl bring a giant bag of sunflower seeds into the dugout one time and the girls tried to turn them into goofing around and quit paying attention to the game. They were immediately removed and given to the parents.
