Dad, Husband....legend
Since Rich Balswick is 450 miles to the north and I am plum out of things to teach the kid, I asked around and was directed to Don Sarno down here in SoCal. I had heard of him but since he is not a big internet guy, there were no videos or anything else to get a look at what he taught so we got a lesson booked and I took DD on Saturday to check things out and see what he had to offer. I cannot express how amazing this man was. Both in knowledge and demeanor he was world class. I did not think it was possible that a PC could get my kid to make any sort of change in less than 20 hours of work, but he managed to key in on subtleties to improve her rise and CU dramatically, and teach her how to make the most of her FB (changed the grip and finish slightly to get it to tail inside to a righty) and drop (once again slight grip and finish change) to get it absolutely bending down and away. Everything he said was spot on and showed an almost immediate improvement. Everything I do with her is trial and error, so to see a real expert be able to asses her and then take her existing tool set and turbo charge it was very impressive. The kid thought he was the nicest man she had ever met and was really proud that he agreed to give her lessons. During the course of the lesson we got to know a little about his history and his background is almost as impressive as the humility he conveys while sharing it. I feel really fortunate to have found him and I am looking forward to eavesdropping from the bucket on the pearls of wisdom he gives DD at the next lesson.
Every once in a while I run across someone who is truly an expert at something and I am always struck by how much power they have over their area of expertise and Don is literally a master at his craft, I feel very fortunate to have found someone who I trust to hand the kid over to finally.
I don't know how available he is, but if anyone in SoCal has the need for advanced pitching instruction I cannot imagine there is anyone better.
