9 Year old needs throwing help

I am trying to help my 9 year old DD improve her overhand throwing. What has worked the best for your daughters? Thanks

I use a baseball, to give them a smaller ball.

Do what Amy suggested. Start with a smaller ball. Using even a 11'' softball in a small hand will cause bad throwing mechanics.

It seems to me like she is not getting the ball back far enough before she throws. Not sure thats the best way to describe it or not. She plays league and TB makes great short throws from 2nd base but struggles making good strong throws from SS or 3rd

I would look at her lower body. DD has a crow hop, kind of an OF throw from the left side of the field. Her arm alone cannot get it there yet.

Things to look for
Throwing arm elbow even with the shoulder or higher
Step out flexed lead knee
Glove hand being pulled in to help with tork
Hips lead upper body
Throwing arm does not stop and releases to opposite side thigh
