It was great!

Just wanted to thank everyone here for all of the pitching advice in the threads and via PM over the last year. DD is only 11, and still has a ways to go, but I feel like she's had the very best start a kid could get. Her first lesson ever in her life was at age 9.5 with Denny Tincher. Since then I've found DFP and all you wonderful people and we got her in regularly with her Tincher certified coach. Since then I've scoured the stickies here and gotten some great tips. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on whats good in the pitching world. So when the opportunity arose for us to attend a clinic with Mr. Pauly I immediately knew that this would be a special opportunity. The clinic was 4 hours. He went through everything. Beginners to advanced. SO easy to understand. His cues made sense and he did a lot of demo...He practices what he preaches!! Had the girls attention the whole time. Most of what he taught is 90% what we do with our local coach with the exception of the emphasis on the brush. DD used to brush a lot more than she does now. She's had a couple mechanical issues while actively growing and I always hoped she'd get it back. Within 2 hours of starting the clinic, she did. He even taught her a rise and a curve (which she won't be throwing in games any time soon but was also so exciting just to "do".)

She even got to find out her spin on the rev fire.
Rick was so encouraging, egging her on saying "you'll hit 18 on this next one I just know it". :)
All in all really good experience. I feel like what he teaches is what my DD wants to do naturally. Nothing forced or weird. Great experience. And without DFP I wouldn't have known to get in on it.
So grateful.

I'm jealous! That's great. Hoping to get in a clinic soon. Spaces fill up fast!

Thanks for the kind remarks.
This was a really neat clinic in that it was probably the highest parental participation/observation clinic I've done in a while. The parents associated with these kids genuinely took an interest and had some great Q&A at the end. There is just no substitute for parental support! It is a rare kid that succeeds without it. Kudos to all you parents on DFP trying to help your kid.

I agree it was a really good group, parents and kids. I am just sorry that I missed your power point the night before! My daughters coach said it was amazing. He was at the coaches meeting, clinic, and is also a member on here . I know he will give the besr support to her and the rest of our team's pitchers . We are very lucky!

That was definitely a great clinic this weekend! Great young girls really working to get better, great parent participation and a great instructor that really reached the young ladies. Every person there asked "When is Rick coming back?" My answer is "Soon, very soon!"

If anything, this weekend proved to me that the need for a group like Fastpitch Foundations is very high. We need to have more pitching instructors knowing the right way to pitch and the right way to teach pitching, at least in Northern Virginia, but likely throughout the country. Thanks Rick,

Ed Hussey
