I have a daughter who is freshman playing varsity she is the starting pitcher, she has a awesome fast pitch who strikes out many during the first four innings (good hitting teams only). but after that they start hitting on her. what is the problem and what can she do to correct it.

Ditto on the speed if that's what she's getting the hitters out with.
She's need to learn to move the ball and throw off speed. She needs to break up the timing.

Many times too a pitcher can get overconfident/complacent/de-focussed and not hit her spots after having success in the first time through the line-up. Make sure she is not inadvertantly launching meatballs over the middle of the white in the later innings.

That and she is naturally getting slower every inning. A straight fast pitch will become a medium straight pitch as the innings go on.

The problem is that your DD isn't pitching. She is throwing.

Pitching is about:

1) Raw speed
2) Changing speed (either with off-speed pitches or with changeups)
3) Ball movement (breaking pitches)
4) Location (pitching along the edges of the strike zone).

It is generally better to be fast than not to be fast. But, speed isn't enough. It takes all four.

Good hitters adapt to the pitcher. That is why they are good hitters.

That's was my thinking, I'm working with her on the change up, it will take time but she'll get it, in the mean time I'm trying to get her to slow down her pitch and then throw a fast one (throwing the batter off), You fathers out there know your kids rather listen to a stranger than there own dads. She knows the drop ball, curve and riser, just needs to have the confidence to use them.
