Hey all!

I have a question about arm momentum from 2 oclock to 10 oclock. Specifically, should there be a conscious effort by the upper arm to initiate this circle, or is it more about allowing it to happen against the body's natural momentum? The reason I ask, is that I often notice both DD's missing compression. There are inconsistencies in their motions which I can attribute it to, but I often notice that their upper arm will go too far back away from their side during 12 to 10. I think this is due to consciously thinking about the arm going back? I'm not sure if I am on to something here or not.

I think I'm confused about "your" clock.........2:00 in front of the head and 10:00 behind the head......So......Over the top of the circle?

In my observation, many (most?) high-level pitchers get pretty near full-extension with minimal elbow bend, going up and over the top, and then get a loose elbow bend in place from 12:00 to 9:00 in getting that palm up position at 9:00 and leading down the back side of the circle with the elbow. Many beginning pitchers learning IR have the tendency to over exaggerate that elbow bend up to and at the top of the circle, and thus over shirten the arm circle. "Short-arming" the ball is what I call it.
My own 10u DD would do this, and it was evident by her "bend" oriented toward 1b (RH pitcher) vs toward HP, and arm sort of "curling" over her head. Her release (at 6:00) would also be pretty high on her hip vs upper thigh as a result as well.

let me provide an example. Here little DD has a great deal of space between upper arm and torso at 10 and 9 oclock. i am wondering if she is throwing her arm too far backwards?

Lil DD is great example who does things I tend to discourage early in her load/drive, then puts everything back together very nicely, resulting in a very good looking release.

Stick, I find it very hard to criticize anything I see with lil' DD. Man I like it.
