She has a nice swing! Look at some Cabrera clips from this site.

The tee is definitely set up too far out front!!!! She will have a lot of trouble with offspeed pitches. Bring the tee in much closer. Hit many repetitions to opposite field.

Don't mess with her lower half—feet included!

Many people (ie, coaches) will freak out when they see the back foot move like that and will comment or even try to intervene. My daughter went to a tryout w/ a fairly respectable organization, and the coach was telling her that back foot shouldn't move, be quieter, etc. That staff also had a device that forced hitters to swing down at ball off a tee. Too bad because DD was liking that team until that point.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was concerned when a few said that back foot was too active.... SoftballPhreak, I was trying to set up the tee to where she'd meet the ball at her front foot. Didn't realize it was too far until you mentioned it. Haha.

Low and outside

The difference: McCutchen's back foot stays on the same line as the front foot, allowing his hips to open fully. The hitter in the top .gif's back foot moves away from the plate, and her hips do not open as much as McCutchen's. That could be what the observer meant by "foot moves around too much."

After the swing...maybe during. Haha

I've just seen pitchers use the boards for balance.

Here's a few swings:

Are you effing kidding me? Mechanically speaking, leave her alone.
We're seeing the best swing ever posted here.
Work on swing adjustments for different pitch locations and speeds.
The back foot is not problematic. Leave it alone.

Are you responsible for her current swing? If so, we should be picking your brain.

Put her swing in the model swing thread.

Not an issue .... fairly common among good hitters ... and is in fact a positive attribute.

Do-over....I had nothing to do with her swing. A young lady that transferred home from Michigan St works with her every now and then. But, she taught her everything she knows. I'm glad you think highly of her swing. She's worked hard. Not sure it's model swing worthy
