BTW, I am not trying to start a "camp war." I simply want to understand what other see and how they relate some of this stuff to a MLB swing.

Sitting at a stop light. No worries about camp war CB. The one legged golfer stretch and fires, like the high level swing. Stretches around his rear hip socket...extermal ground force would put him on his face

RHC, and I like the snf. Tried it myself. Still, have some other issues with the one legged golfer example like the ground forces and how important they are to hip rotation. IMO, I see value in the front leg. I don't/haven't had success with many hitters who feel that they drive off the back leg. (Kind of that feeling I get with Harper's swing.) So, I'm just looking for someone to do the comparison to the MLB swing. Thanks for taking this in the right way. I gave up arguing a long time ago and want to read and think.

Sorry...better description of stretch is stretching around ball of femur...in the rear hip socket. I will check back on here when I get home tonight.

Just made this clip of Trout...Have other ones but don't want to use up bandwidth.

This is what the one legged golfer with the right leg is doing. This is basic human anatomy dealing with how the human body leverages the ground.

Front leg
I say it it used for balance, to push against, if the knee is flexed the hips work better, land on the big toe of the front foot with a flexed knee would be ideal.
I would say the upper quads and hamstrings work with the core and back side on rotation.
Just a feeling, I have no idea what bones or muscles work for or against each other in a swing except for feel.

SL

The quads and hamstrings support your crouched position, they don't provide force for shifting and rotating. The hip flexors do that.

When the front leg extends, the quads and the glutes cause the extension, but the hip flexors handle the rotation.

Not here.

The ties in with the one legged golfer. Not doing what Wellphyt says ''applying serious torque externally against the ground with his back leg to rotate his hips, The golfer uses his hips rotation to put external pressure against the ground. If the golfer did it the way Wellphyt said the golfer would fall on his face. The golfer is not doing the ''move''. Like Jbooth states above the quad and hamstrings don't provide rotation the hip flexors do this. The one legged golf shows the stretch around the ball of the femur. That is why he is used as an example. I don't want the momentum swing like Harper does. He can get away with this.

This is a better example of teaching what the one legged golfer does that would apply to a hitter

Trying to teach a hitter to stretch around the ball of the femur. Not into their rear leg.

rbbass, that, imo, is a good drill and my dd has been doing it almost all of her life. Way back in the day, we called it the Jose Cruz Drill. Now, she calls it the stork drill. Today dd will give her first hitting lesson. This is one of three drills she will use today.
