Coil drill

Someone posted a clip recently of a tee drill in which the batter paused after load (what I used to call the flamingo drill), then coiled during the stride. I can't find that post.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

And are there other drills people might recommend for developing stretch & coil?

Forward by coil:Then put your legs together.........And do this a few times.......COIL TO SHIFT..........Don't Stride to Shift;

IOW....Get your rear butt-cheek moving toward the 2nd baseman FIRST.......Don't just "turn it toward him and spread your legs"..........

Sorry, I thought I had posted 'Thank You!' before my question about Ichiro.

I really appreciate not just the drills, but the great visuals.

The one I was asking about originally was the one top left on the thread. This is good stuff.

Stand on your back foot/leg, turn everything above that leg back around as far as you can. What you feel in your rear hip joint is coil.

rdbass, watch HOW Harper coils and WHEN. Watch how and WHEN he moves out. Watch WHEN and HOW he moves his hands back

You and your Daughter can learn to feel the stretch required to swing with your hips. All you need to do, is have her coil as I've described, then set her front foot on the ground and hold herself in that position, then sit slightly (like she was going to sit her back butt cheek on a stool), the coil will get tighter. Then, have her put her hands at her rear shoulder like she does in her stance while holding the bat. Take your hands and hold her hands so they won't move. Have her relax her arms and upper body. Then, have her lift her front foot, just enough to allow her to move her body forward, using her back leg, as she tries to turn her belly button toward an imaginary Pitcher. You can do the same thing yourself by holding onto a door frame instead of having someone hold your hands.
