I understand that every situation is probably different, but I was curious to hear the experiences of some of you that had DD who have played at various colleges.
Do the girls typically live in dorms? Are there typically specific athletic dorms/floors of dorms where the team is generally in the...
Agreed!!! It's truly a privilege to have your knowledge on this site. We are all blessed to have this resource and some great contributors!
Glad to see you back...I seriously look forward to reading your posts!
Thanks for all the response. My DD was taught "turn the knob" along with a subtle step left. We really had not focused any attention on this pitch until relatively recently. She actually came home after being with a friend and said "dad I was messing with my screw ball today and I think it is...
Thanks for the reply. I understand your explanation completely. Help me take it a step further. It is my understanding that the pronation of the forearm is a significant contributing factor good whip and thusly speed. Without that pronation of the forearm where/how is the speed generated in...
Ok folks...for some reason I am having a very difficult time reconciling this in my head. I have attempted to search the forum for previous discussion in this to no avail (doesn't mean it's not there). My initial thought is that my question is so dumb that there was never any reason for it to...
Mike...this is fantastic. I encourage everyone to read Boardmembers IR sticky, but if you don't these two videos are a concise starting point!
Thanks again for your efforts!
I am curious what exactly this "upper arm/forearm movement" looks like. My DD is working diligently to master the roll over drop, but I don't think I've heard this discussed or seen it before. It could be the missing piece to her puzzle. Any good gifs by any chance??
Thanks in advance...
I am looking for a qualified pitching instructor for my 14 yr old DD. I can't find anyone locally that is suitable. DD and I have/continue to learn a TON from this site and she works diligently to improve. Frankly, I still think it is portent to have another set of eyes, and hands on...
What is the definition of a slap attempt? I'm curious about this with two strikes on a hitter. Recently, in a tourney the hitter for the opposing team was a slap hitter. She had two strikes and was called out for fouling off an attempt. This is a scenario that happens frequently, but this is...
I just wanted to say that we all know the softball "community" can be a tight knit bunch, but I think sometimes we might be so conditioned to that fact that we do acknowledge it enough.
To Amy I want to acknowledge and thank you for the numerous times I have seen your selflessness and...
Had the exact same issue with DD's CF6. We had an ump take it out of play. Literally just one very small spot where it had raised maybe 1/4. We were also only about 3 weeks from warranty being over. Overnighted it back to them. They repaired rather than replace. Got it back 2 weeks later.
Thanks for the responses folks...I like the thought process. I have to say that a good drop curve is tough for a slapper. Unfortunately, I have only had one that can throw that pitch well!
Hey Folks, I am confident a lot of you have called pitches at one time or another. I'm curious to hear your approach when facing slappers. Let's assume for this thread that the girls are high level players. I also realize at times you would be limited by the level of the pitcher you are...
My DD is a right handed hitter. She recently fractured the growth plate of her left wrist while diving for a fly ball. Dr. Ortho has her out for another 4-weeks at least. She is going nuts! I told her I would ask the hitting gurus if there is anything she can be doing to work on her swing with...
Mr. Java,
I can't not tell you how in awe I am of this thread. Thank you so much for sharing your time and knowledge.
I have been reading voraciously. I couldn't wait to get to the training program. Here I am at the end...Did I miss it somewhere. I got to posts #228 and thought the program...
