DD dislocated her shoulder, she was cleared by the team trainer to play but not do anything that causes pain-she's a catcher, dislocated her receiving arm. She had 2 daysoff a week and continied to do PT for her arm.
4 weeks later DD suffers a spinal injury. Out for two weeks, she could barley...
DD's team took 5th in state to end her high school season and career.
DD didn't know that her future college coaches were watching her when she hit a 2 run HR and 2-RBI single. Proud parent moment for sure!
DD is playing college ball next year so the ride will continue a little longer.
Scenario: Runner on 3. Wild pitch/past ball, catcher retreats after ball, batter steps backwards out of the box, runner heads home.
Catcher retrieves the ball, pitcher is not in position, so catcher makes a beeline for the runner and runs smack into the back of the batter. The runner is on the...
DD's vacation just happens to be timed perfectly with a Jen Schro camp out of state. Anyone with a 16-18yr old experienced catcher who has attended her clinic. Reviews, opinions, etc?
Over the past four years my DD has had a roller coaster TB career, easily summarized by broken bones, teammates who loved her and coaches who didnt play her. This past year she used the off season (her highly anticipated TB team fell apart) to train one-on-one as a catcher.
This year she won...
Count is 1-2, hitting team is down by one in the last inning. Third base coach motions his player to back up in the box, her back foot is outside the batters box when the pitch is thrown. Batter swings so late she hits the catchers mitt with the ball in the mitt. Catcher is called for...
Situation:
Tie run on 2nd 1 out, top of 7th.
Runner on 2 steals, catcher throws to 3B, hitting the fielders glove, who was looking in the dirt oblivious to the ball coming at her. Ball skips off and runner scores.
Up to this point, SS was covering steals, but 3B plays one step in front of...
Here is the situation as best I recall:
Bottom 7th, runners on the corners, winning run on 3B, 2 outs.
1st base coach yells to batter "it's your time (insert batter name here)" just as the pitcher is going through the wind-up. Pitcher goes through full wind-up and when "time" is said from...
So tryouts are underway, which offer would you take, so far?
Team A: DD is the #1 at her desired position, may have a #2 to share time with.
DD will be developed at other positions, which she has a desire and ability to play, but hasn't been given the opportunity in the past.
Fees:<$1000...
I am looking for catching drills for 14u. I Lost my NECC video....
Some I have seen on video/you tube/this forum include:
Blocking drills-
ball thrown at ground (front and each side) catcher blocks. Should this be nightly or is that hard on the knees? How many reps? Is the block different...
DD recently attended a recruiting camp held the day before a multi-state tournmanet. There was a list of 50+ college coaches attending, including name and college affiliation. Are these recruiting camps beneficial? Are they more beneficial for soph/junior compare to 8th grade/freshman...
After several close plays at home this year, including collisions, I'm curious how others are successful.
Assuming a catcher is lined up with one leg across the foul line, facing 3b, a runner attempting to slide around the catcher will get tagged out, I have yet to see INT called on a catcher...
For some reason my DD has moved away from the throwing method taught by NECC (ball separates from glove near chin and elbow goes back as ball in hand goes up) to separating and elbow goes down and back. Elbow drops during the throw, movement and throw are less efficient and less productive...
Did anyone else watch this game? FSU pitcher has a nice leap off the rubber and is airborne every pitch.
Surprising she wasn't called for an illegal pitch?
What's the NCAA rule about keeping in contact with the rubber, as her right foot lifts, slides, then comes off the ground?
