Left off the part where she told them she wanted to play USA ball this summer (without a contract) but they mandated she either sign a contract right now or she was out. She wasn't ready to commit for two years to them so she walked.
Yeah, this was done at the advice of someone she confides in and he's a great hitting coach and he definitely has credibility. However, I think she's going to find that the quality of her students long term is going to take a hit. There's a reason her older pitchers vying for scholly's still...
About a year ago, our pitching coach who we love and believe is one of the best in the state based on her ability to get girls signed, decided to move from a 30 min 1 on 1 instruction style to a 1 hour (4 or 5 girls) clinic style and my daughter's productivity has decreased since. Who's to...
Find a pitcher that's comparable to her or better and tell her that girl is there to take her spot....meow, cat fight!
(Ha, just went through this with my dd)
In my opinion, at least in our area, you can't compare Boys HS baseball, basketball coaching to HS/MS softball. It's obvious which teams have good coaches and which ones that don't. Our HS has a constant stream of top flight travel ball players flow through it yet they can never sniff the state...
Your 8 yo's form is incredible for her age, great job. Like one poster said, get rid of the 45 degree elbow bend after release and adjust the slight lean forward back a bit and your good to go. I teach my daughter to try and touch her left shoulder after release (righty)
Just be prepared for about 400 girls to be attending if your daughter is less than 14 so it's more about the "being away from home" and the interaction with the coaches than it is the actual amount of instruction that is given.
My daughter is currently playing on A class tb team and we will be playing our last tournament (1st yr 14u) next weekend. Her school ball team starts throwing Jan. 7 (no hitting until 1/28) and it appears she will be the #1 pitcher for that team. We currently do hitting and pitching lessons once...
It seems to be getting worse and is causing her pitches to sail cause it aides in her glove arm to fly open (helicopter style). She's 5'7 and is 13 yo so she's still growing a bit. She pitched in front of U of Houston's hc last week and it was the first thing she noticed. Our pitching coach has...
It really depends on your definition of a hitting coach. Most elite players parents in tb don't trust just their head coach with their swing. That's why they take individual lessons from a 3rd party long time coach or former high level player/coach. If the HC has the credentials to be the...
We paid a D1 player this summer $1000 for 6 tourneys and a couple of practices a week (skipped a week and only had one several weeks), not to mention an all expense paid trip to the beach for last tourney. Not a bad deal for an aspiring coach if you ask me.
Thanks for all the feedback. I'm basically building the team around my two pitchers. They both take hitting and pitching from one of the best instructors in the state so I know what both of their future holds as far as instruction goes. One is my daughter. She just turned 13 and is throwing mid...
Our record stands at 4-13-3 with two of our wins coming against the same team. Removing our worst loss, our average margin of loss is about 3 to 4 (has increased as the season has progressed) and we're good for at least 3 maybe 4 errors per game. Our two starting pitchers are averaging about 2...
I have a first year 14u B class team with 3 that are playing up. Most of the girls on this team are first year tb players. I have 3, including my daughter, that are in hitting lessons every week. A few more have the ability, a few will never be able to afford lessons on a regular basis. We have...
