    Pain in pectoral area?

Last year, my daughters senior year of college, she began have pectoral pain and it turns out it was her rhomboid major muscle on her back had stretched out a bit and was letting her scapula change position, (look up sick scapula ) causing impingement pain in the front side of her shoulder...

    Can we talk "low" riseball

My DD's rise took off as a senior in high school. Before the season began she and her catcher began working it into the pitch calling. Time and time again the catcher would call it, knew it was coming and it still hit her in the top of her catchers mask. The coach asked her what was wrong and...

    Pitching Mat Suggestions

On my DD's mat I cut a small slit on the underside and inserted a dog toy squeaker into it in the area to the left of the line where she was landing. Instant feedback. Dog didn't like it though.

What is your/your daughters most effective pitch?

My DD's most effective pitch is the curveball. Unfortunately that is all the coach (DII) wants to call. So the first few innings she will set them down 123 and rack up a few K's and around the 4th or 5th inning they adjust move up on the plate and put the barrel on those on the corner and let...

8 year old new pitcher pitching too high

Again keep it simple the belly button is an area, the torso, don't carry the ball past your body therefore releasing late. Look at the BI pictures isnt the hand pretty close to the belly button? Jeez it's an 8yo. Start going into palm up at 9 release at 6 and her eyes will glaze over.

I could really use some advice..

DD was playing well above her age at 13 and saw no need to extra effort into pitching as she was blowing the ball by batters her own age. A coach called asking if she would play TB with his team, 18u, and it helped to open her eyes once she faced better batters. No pushing to workout was needed...

8 year old new pitcher pitching too high

At 8yo got to keep it simple. Probably release of ball to late, or bending forward at release or a little of both. Tell her to keep her "nose behind her toes " don't bend over her plant foot, and to release the ball at her belly button.

one thing to work on, please

My DD gets a pretty good push off by 3:00. Emphasis has always been pushing her glove straight to the catchers mitt. When speaking of driving her glove straight to the catchers mitt this picture shows how far back the glove travels. Her glove goes back with the ball past her hip concealing the...

Advice Needed to Help Calm Nerves

DD travel ball coach emphasized that his team was always watched. DD was brought on his 18U the summer she turned 14, and after years of expectations of always being watched, DD never really seemed to tense up at the news of someone asking about her. At the end of games the coach would send...

    Is a screwball a screwball?

DD has a good drop, curve, change and when inside usually a rise is most effective. Have had good results inside with a two seam fastball with an inside angle.

Well...DD has hit the mental monster side of pitching...(high school antics)

Pitching is a lot more on the mental side than we acknowledge. DD obtained 58-60 MPH by 15 and cruised through HS relying on double digits K's. As she transitioned to college we spoke about how everyone on the other team was probably the star shortstop on their HS team and had a good bat and...

    Two Seamers

∆ exactly. My DD 2 seam FB cuts down and in about 8 out of 10 times the other two kinda of crop. It was taught to her by a USA men's pitcher who suggested that she try it after putting the finishing touches on her curve one day.

Softball Dads, which one are you?

Right there with you a solid 8. As bad as it is on my nerves, shins, and wallet I would not trade the one on one time with DD for anything else in the world. Now that she is a freshman in college and making ever game is impossible I don't worry as I know she has a good head on her shoulders and...

Contemplating not playing HS next year

DD experiences run right through the middle of this thread. Always played rec and TB and then HS and travel ball. Rec and hs were with friends and for fun and reps. Always pitched in rec and pitched and played third in hs. TB was of course more serious, as serious as she could be anyway, and was...

    The dang curve ball spin

If its not working it needs to be fixed now. Fixing it later will be even harder. Not sure what is meant by palm down. My DD throws hers palm up and any spin pitch will be slightly slower than her fastball.

    Gauging College Coaches' Interst

DD is now a freshman pitcher at a DII university with a great nursing school. If your DD is majoring in one of the rougher fields of study that needs to be put out front. DD had interest from about six schools but many cooled upon hearing she was a nursing major. A couple coaches actually...

    Small colleges - MPH

Yeah hitting your spots is definitely key. I see so many waste so much time trying to perfect their seven pitches and not concentrating on consistent location. DD is doing well with basically two pitches and three speeds with location locked down. Williams said the key to hitting is getting a...

    Small colleges - MPH

That's how my DD has risen from third base backup to the go to pitcher. She has averaged .14 walks per inning. And in spite of only averaging .42 strike outs per inning she still gets it done. She has and awesome defense behind her and this certainly takes the pressure off of her. SS reads pitch...

    Small colleges - MPH

My DD is a DII freshman pitcher and tops out at 61 mph on her fastball. She is third fastest of teams six pitchers. 2/3 through the season now and the coaches have found a way to utilize her. She has a great curve/drop "crop" and screwball. Her rise ball has disappeared this year for some...
