I am a bucket mom. I got shine guards pretty quick after getting hit in the left knee hard enough to drop me down to the ground. I got beat up pretty bad at her last lesson. This is the same lesson that I also learned to hate drop balls as well. Needless to say, I'm dragging someone else to...
Last week daughter brushed just a bit too much.
Banged hip, ball left hand, dropped to her knees, and rolled over flat on her back. She laid there for a good few minutes laughing and crying. I couldn't look at her. I knew it had to hurt but it was funny.
During lesson, while throwing fastballs, PC will occasionally say, "see what you did there? That's perfect drop ball spin". She nor I have no idea what she did different.
I think this answers my question. So if the ball is thrown just like a fast ball, the added tilt in the release makes the ball spin more which causes it to drop. Yes?
And to clarify. PC said jump to the left 3-4" to set up angle. Throw just like your fastball. I'm not arguing his way. I'm plainly asking if this is the right way, what does the ball do differently than an inside fastball and if nothing, why just not call it an inside fastball? If it does...
I am serious with my question. I hope that you don't think that I am trying to be argumentative, funny or snarky. I am really trying to determine if I am understanding things correctly. It may very well be that I am not.
Or is it just a low fastball with a more forward release point?
If it is just a low fastball, then why not just call a low fastball?
Does a peel drop or turnover drop put a different spin on the ball to make it drop? If I understand correctly, a good drop ball will have a 12/6 spin on it...
Or is it just a fastball thrown at an angle?
If it is just a fastball thrown at an angle, what is/was the point of teaching to turn hand with a hitch hikers thumb?
If it is, why not just call an inside fastball? Does throwing it at an angle do something for perception?
If it isn't, does the...
I just wanted to share a funny with you all. If you recall, I posted a bit ago saying my daughter was recovering from a pulled muscle. She has healed and we're back to it. We had just started with BI drills before that injury so that's where we started again. Most times I can hear her brush...
