I think alot of valid points have been made. Right now my daughter is in a toxic dugout. Thus the motivation behind my query. The advantage of coaching her besides being in control of logistics and costs, is I am more in the know on things and can make sure they/her get the training they need...
I have seen in various places that it is strongly advised against to coach a team with your daughter on it. I wonder if it will hurt her college ball hopes and aspirations? I am stuck between limited and mostly not good options of teams and coaches in that regard. She is extremely talented and...
Seems pretty obvious from here, where not too close and muddled in all the emotions and tradition. You have a varsity roster size and you put the players that best fit the team. All the rest get cut, or sent to the jv squad which should be grooming players incase needed up on varsity. That's how...
I would start first by breaking down the why' s as to how we got ourselves in said rock an hard place. This would not be finger pointing but rather an honest break down of what transpired and accepting my responsibility too. Then would focus on what we can do better and remind them sometimes...
I guess im a tad puzzled from what I am reading here. It sounds like its viewed as a sin to play to win if the game is rec.Why does player development have to be in conflict with playing to win? While certainly one can teeter too far either way, it seems to me that a balance can be arrived at...
I would take a long look at all of them. Any who have talent and are dedicated and willing to work hard on their craft, would get my most attention and a piece of the inning pie you mentioned.
Didn't intend my last post to have the negative tone in regards to parents. Was just sharing that the kids pitching practise is limited. I figured expecting 70% callable strikes would be bit much to ask but definitely concerned that 20's an 30s seems more the norm currently
Well the basis for my question is my team does not have any serious pitchers. By that I mean the 5 or so that are willing or want to pitch have little formal training nor parents who will spend the needed bucket time with them. So have been trying to squeeze pitching time for them at the...
What ratio of strikes to total pitches, i.e. accuracy, is realistic to expect or reasonable to shoot for in 10 to 12 yr old rec ball play? Out of 100 pitches how many should/would be on target? The ratio im looking for would be for average players not phenoms.
