Last night DD got a letter from her #1 choice to play softball and they decided not to offer her a spot. This was a couple weeks after she performed fantastic in front of them during a team workout and they said they were impressed. They did come to see her play this weekend and she was stressed but nothing really happened in that game defensively and she didn't hit well until after they left. It was an emotional conversation but she said that she no longer wanted to play in college. She's had offers from 2 top 5 D3 schools and a top 20 D2 school but they are small schools and she's not interested. She said she's been looking at schools for softball and not for academics and the stress has been ruining the sport for her. She wants to go to a bigger school and things never worked out for her to play at that level.
I'm really proud that she's overcome a lot of obstacles to start on one of the best teams in the state that has 4 current mid level D1 players on it. I'm feeling a bit depressed over the whole thing but it's her choice and I don't think she'll change her mind. She said she feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders and wants to just play for fun this year and end her career on a good note. I had asked if she wanted to quit the TB team and she said no way. I don't like how expensive it is though and we are on the road at least 4 hours a week for practice but DW says to let her have her fun.
I heard her singing this morning in the bathroom so she must be feeling good which is what is important. I on the other hand...
