On Tuesday I wanted to yell why don't you work with girls that walk at least three batters per inning!

Surely, you know the answer....he wants to work with the best pitcher so he can take credit for her success.

If your DD stays with pitching, you are going to find out that the person who actually is responsible for your DD's success is...YOUR DD. Not you, not her PC, not her team coach, but her.

Everyone else just wants to horn in on the glory.

I hope this is the case with team PC but I don't think so she is very negative toward my daughter not a lot of positive words. And I agree at games when my daughter is pitching and parents tell me I'm doing a good job with her I always say tell her she practices I just catch tell her she's doing good. I deserve no praise at all I didn't want her to pitch at first.

87, when I first read your post I had to look up your email address to see if you were the father of one of my students. I had nearly the exact same conversation with a dad of a 12U student recently. I've been teaching her what your daughter is learning, and her new team coaches (who are local HS coaches with poor records) want her to do all this crazy stuff that doesn't resemble what great pitchers do. One of my favorites was instead of driving her back leg forward into her left, they thing she should stop it and pull the back knee up, sort of like a dog marking its territory. Not sure where they got that.

Anyway, the conversation I had was A) go out to the Internet and see if top-level pitchers do what they're telling your daughter to do (they don't), B) She is not going to benefit from me telling her one thing and them telling her something else, so if after doing A you still want to follow what they're saying then we should shake hands and I wish her luck, and C) If you don't do what they say it could affect her circle time short-term, but you need to take a longer view; next year she may be on a different team and she will have lost a year in training to succeed.

So far, he hasn't canceled the next lesson, in fact he confirmed it, so hopefully he's talked to the coaches and said we're sticking with what our PC is telling us. Guess we'll see. Sounds like you're learning the right things, so I'll suggest that C) above also applies to your situation. Keep going in the direction you're going, even if circle time suffers a bit this year, and next year perhaps she can get onto a better team with more enlightened coaches.

Maybe these parents should also tell the PC you are doing a good job and get odd DD back? :)

Spent my weekend in between games reading as much as I could on the stickies mosly I/R in the classroom and brush interference. Learned a couple thngs in the last week. 1 team PC is an idiot. 2 private PC is really good. Thanks everyone for not making me feel like an idiot and a nudge in the right direction. Will be back with more questions soon. Once again thanks to everyone for their input!
