My DD was called for an IP for just such a transgression at 18U ASA Nationals this year.
ASA rules. Can you legally blow on your hand without wiping it off before pitching? If not please provide the reference. Thanks you.
From 45-50 feet away I can see how blowing on a hand can appear to be licking the hand. Perception perhaps?
There is no such rule, never has been. Even the requirement to wipe one's fingers (which is not enforceable) is absolutely ridiculous as it will have no, zero, nil, nada, zip affect on the ball.
Might want to let the ASA National Umpire School staff know that...because it was definitely stressed when I went...
