Alright folks. It's about that time. Whats the plans or program for this weekend. We have a three game friendly on Sunday in West Covina. Should be a nice weekend weather wise for us.

Let's hear it

Heading to Dekalb IL on Sunday for a round robin there with Depaul & Northern IL.

We are going to see our other TB pitcher (she is on NIU). It would be so awesome to see her and my DD go head-to-head pitching but that is my dream and probably not reality.....

Tailgating should be fun. Valpo family tailgaters are so cool and "do it right".

Same ole same ole. Games on sat games on sun. Little one has her first games as a guest player on Sunday.

I am going to try my best to be in full support mode and not in game analysis mode. with a little assist from the man upstairs I will be able to continue to turn over a new leaf and just appreciate them playing. I did not do so well in this area last week and have been riding my firstborn pretty hard this week about playing the game instead of viewing it as a series of disconnected mechanical tasks. Wish me luck.

Pool play Saturday, Bracket play Sunday. Toss in a soccer game and football game on Saturday with the boys and you have another lonely weekend for the family dog.

Quiet weekend. DD #3 had her first rec league volleyball match yesterday. They got smashed. Rec league SB games Sat and Monday. I hope to get in some pitching practice with her. She's still breaking in a new glove, which is throwing off her pitching motion.

It is the next 2 weekends that are exciting to me. The following Sunday DS rows in his fist college race, along the Fox River in DePere, Wisc. Tiny little race, but, depending on boat assignments, DS has a legitimate chance at 1 or 2 gold medals in the Open Novice class. Nice for him because all his fall races have Junior divisions, so he can keep up with friends still in his old HS club. (Imagine for those of you with ladies in college, if your daughters' college teams were in the same events as their old TB teams).

The following weekend is a little known event that is one of the largest fall amateur sporting events in the Midwest: the Head of the Rock, along about 5k of the Rock River in Rockford, Ill. Hundreds of boats from all over the Midwest. This is the best rowing regatta for spectators in the Midwest. Great to see all the boats heading upstream to get in position for their staggered start (times are used), and boats racing downstream.

The most fun thing about the Head of the Rock is the coxswains for the college boats. Coxswains need to be small, and the rowers large. Many colleges use rather short women as coxswains for their men's boats. Interesting to see a boat of 4 or 8 tall, muscular young men rowing downstream while a tiny young woman is shouting at them into a mic at the top of her lungs. That gets an interesting reaction from some married couples watching the race.

Nothing more fun than seeing 2 pitchers who are friends duel each other in a close game.

Not as much fun if the teams are unevenly matched, and one of the girls gets rocked.

After school today, I'll get DS to his school band practice and DD to her MS softball practice. Then I'll get DS to his music lesson and me and DD will hit the field for some practice. DW and DD leave tonight for Phoenix for her USSSA qualifier this weekend. Me and DS will be at his scout meeting. Tomorrow I'll take DS to a couple of his dance classes. When he gets out, DDs pool play will be done.

We'll hang in the man cave until DD and DW get home Sunday evening.

First Fall tournament, a PGF showcase in Des Moines. Not a deep field despite the fact that 16s and 18s are combined. The "college coaches attending" list is a bit thin for a showcase. But still will be fun to see them play in a tourney for the first time since nationals, especially since half the team is new.

Headed to UT to with DD to watch her play as a guest player. Fingers and toes crossed that we will get some games in - weather guru saying that we may need to build an ark. Also going to see a lady about some slightly used softball equipment that she is selling. Will miss DD's fall ball games Saturday evening unless the tourney gets rained out and the FB games don't.

DD has practice Tuesday & Thursday and hitting lesson with D1 coach on Wednesday.

Then back down to UT for another tourney next weekend - DD will be guest playing with the same team again. FB games will depend on tourney outcome.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!! :D
