As (Hitting) illustrated in the Pedroia clip, internal rotation of the rear leg can seen with the "move" at the foot a reaction to it with the hips resisting turning as "bottom of top", not top of bottom. the IR is in a tug of war with the hip/upper body resistance on either side of the rear hip joint pivot.

edit: also rear foot reaction to abduction legs/"push"

I have been reading from this site and others, about the rear leg.
An age old battle.

Something new i just read, the rear leg, and knee directs the hands, via hip, to say, the outside pitch.
The rear leg seems magical, the back leg counter rotates the hip then, opens the hip, Supplies the "suddeness" to the swing, who needs a front leg.
Right now at this point in my continuing education, i believe that both legs are part of the swing, the rear starts, the front finishes, and is responsible for the kapow of contact.
The back leg drive, is over at "about" lag, and the back foot is a "walk off". side of foot then side of big toe.
Does DRIVING the knee produce much? I think the hip does more.
I am not a medical person, but i love hearing j booths stuff, he seems very common sense to me.

See what i mean now Hyp.

So this guys back leg does just what some of you propose, it sticks to the ground, with no visable twist of the knee inwards, and i can see the crease of his pants, showing the hip turns first, against the leg. Not the leg, turning the hip.

he uncoils very early.

I still cannot post a giff, how do you do that rdbass? coarse you may not help, becuase you are on the other side of the fence. But i did download this giff from your post.

A box will open up down the bottom you will see "properties. Click on properties. This will open a box that will have the Click and drag the pointer across the URL address this will highlight the URL address. Right click on the URL highlighted address a box will pop up. Scroll down to copy. Click on copy. Click on ok. Box will close. Now go to the insert image box. Click open the box. At top of box you will see from URL. Click on the url box tab. Another box will open up it will say URL. Below the URL long box will be another box. There will be a box that has a check in it and will say. Retrieve remote file and reference locally. Uncheck the box. In the URL box paste your URL address that you copied. Click ok this will post the gif that you haved saved into your post. I hope this helps?

Not bad - but I set the tee deeper - her version has you pushing your hands to hit out front....

That is a terrible GIF! :) More Utley here, but unfortunately not a lot of side angles: Utley Photos by baseballgifs | Photobucket

Also you say "he uncoils very early"... early relative to what? Timing, early vs. late.. it's all relative to the pitched ball. You can't see any reference to timing in side view clips.

Yes a very ugly giff. a better version of this clip would be nice.

hyp and some others were talking about not uncoiling, holding the coil, even with the hips opening.

So in this gif i see by the crease in his pants, that he has released this tension, has released his coil. early.
my point was in that paticular discussion was that you could hold the coil all the way to first base if you wanted, once the back leg was unweighted, it did not matter.

To me, coil foward , then uncoil, means hips turn one way, then the other.

To some there is no uncoil, and uncoil:confused: has nothing to do with the hips turning.
