I know that most on here are trying to teach their own kids , so they have to take in all the information and decide for themselves. I am just wondering , after all the research , who would you be most likely to pay to be a hitting coach for your kid and why? (Looking for specific posters/experts)

P.S. Please skip the "I am my DD's best teacher" and "I dont need a HC" crap. That isnt the question

Cyclone, I see now what you're asking for. Problem is most can't show a list of "their" successful girls, can't show clips of them, can't show media proof, etc. Anyone can claim that their team does/won this, their kid does/stats that. I like it when someone can give us a link or article confirming what they say.

So they show all these pics and videos of MLB players and what they do ( who they have no direct dealing with ) and push those ideas. Which is ok for a model, but it's just not 100% practical. They are still 2 different games. Baseball pitches come from elevation downward, FP comes from flat to downward/level/rising. Do you take the same swing for slowpitch, whiffle ball games, cork ball games?

I like Bouldersdad and some other members who can "show" us how their students or DD is doing in ink.

One problem I see with the forum, and wish we could all work together on fixing the hole is the gap in hitting instruction. We either have a bunch of 8-12 year olds or elite college players. There is no ( or minimal ) 14-18u videos. So we see raw material and then the final elite finish, but no transitional period in the middle.

I'm going to do my part this spring to get as much video as I can so we can discuss these important skill building years. I should be able to get 14-18 on hitting, pitching, fielding and an occasional trip to the concessions. :)

I'm not a hitting coach, never claimed to be and never will. But I do know a little.

I am not so much interested in a list of students or anything like that , I am more concerned about what info they provide and could they teach it. I have many times thought about doing a "video diary" of my DD's swing on here , but I just dont think I can stomach all the "experts" telling us what we are doing wrong (even though they wont show their students doing it the "right way") and then all of the ego driven arguments that ensue in most of these threads. Anyway , I am kinda derailing my own thread here. Back to the question:

"Which posters/experts would you be most likely to pay for hitting instruction and why?"

I understand fully on posting clips of our kids. I always cringe when I post one of mine waiting for that first stone to be thrown. I wish all of us could be more constructive in nature on those missing years of instruction, because it's like a novel with the first and last chapter and no middle. I feel like we are training our batters with Cliff Notes or Hitting for Dummies, and we shouldn't.

Hope you find your answer.

Someone for lessons. Teacherman or Tewks. Both have shown what they have done. What they will do. And will debate with anyone in clear language why they do it. If that is truly what you want, then ask them about it.

I am trying figure out which girl got it harsh on here. Theres the most recent, but still, to start a thread that basically said not my dd, make comments. Then say nothing for a long time and come back with a here is who she really is, that's not the same as someone showing their daughter. I made a comment to RD about his dd being very light once, it was wrong, sorry RD. Every one of these threads go on some side tangent, thats what this site is for.
Anyway if someone is not comfortable posting on here, I put in my recommendation for Teacherman or Tewks.

No, problem she is light/small. She plays bigger than she is. I read the Teach and he reads me.

Both teach the high level swing. I can't remember something either has said that I thought "no way." I was searching something last week, and found an old thread from a high school baseball post, Tewks was discussing with several dads, one thing I remember was him saying "I wish someone would have taught me to swing like this in highschool."
Teacherman, well several people, even those who have been the butt of his jokes and comments have said to me "but he does post some good stuff." "The truth" as he would say.

All of those bullet said have had some good arguements, but ad noontime. Noon talks about the swing by what he feels, what he sees, and a "now you try it, and see what you think" approach.

Ok. this is where I was wanting this to go...almost. Now , what specifically do you like about what/how these two teach?

Cant speak for RHC, but since i mentioned the same 2 guys - its not "how they teach" because I dont know - havent had a lesson. I did send Tewks an email seeing if online video analysis was an option for either myself or daughter but he has not responded.

What intrigued me about these guys is "what" they talk about. Teacherman - importance of rear leg coil and pulling back even further against that rear leg coil. Tewks - turning the barrel to the ball vs hands to the ball, good lower half commentary whether one strides or not, concept of swinging until you dont via his videos of hitters and their takes

I have thought about this a lot this morning.

I can't answer your question. I wanted to. But there is so much information from everyone I don't have a firm grasp of each experts ideal swing.

I would love a thread for each hitting (& pitching) expert where only he or she can post their ideals. No responses from others. No arguing or getting sidetracked. Just start at the dirt in batters box and explain in detail to the follow through. Comments or disagreements would be argued in another threads.

I understand your concern about not seeing evidence of an experts accomplishments. But this is all free information not a sales pitch. I feel some on here have very valid arguments that don't feel comfortable posting video. I respect that but feel the forum looses a lot of good info because of it. Whether you agree with him or not the forum lost something when Howard(Hitter) decided not to post anymore.

If Ken would allow it I wish our experts could have a thread of their own. Keep it as concise as possible and easy to understand. Pictures and video are good.
