10u LL coach here, DD is 8, possibly looking to do travel ball in 1-2 years.

looking for recommendations for instructional DVDS/online videos both for my own use and to recommend to parents (for the latter, looking for mostly short, free, online easily digestible, just basics). Especially would like a good link for pitching (ie showing proper mechanics, not worried about off speed, etc.) for parents of my prospective pitchers to use to work with their girls. I make no bones that I am an expert, basically got drafted few years ago, now I enjoy coaching the kids, but always worried that I do not understand game well enough, and really want to make certain I teach good mechanics.

Read through all the sticky's on the pitching section, coaching and the hitting sections and you'll be on the right track not on the wrong track

Instructional Videos and DVDs for Coaches and Athletes! -- Championship Productions, Inc. has ton's of softball training videos from lots of different colleges and coaches, NOT FREE though by any means.

If you go to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, www.NFCA.org there is more help there, books, DVD's etc.

https://www.softballexcellence.com has a ton of info also. a lot of it free. that outta keep you busy enough tonight.

The smartest man on the field. He knows how much he doesn't know. You, sir, should make an excellent coach in the long run. You are looking for the correct information instead of teaching what you "think" is right. Good luck and enjoy the ride. Remember, it's a marathon.

Sparky is right on the money. So are the suggestions for resources. I might add any DVDs by Hillhouse (in addition to clips), and the NECC DVD on catching. The more you learn it the more you love it.
