Eh, I could see myself watching my daughter practice when she gets to 16u. I just enjoy watching her play! (Maybe I'll feel different when she actually gets to 16u)

I think it is hard to fix.

You as a coach need to pick a Team that fits you, you as as a parent need to find a Team that fits DD and hopefully you.

Remember a player that was major leaque BB material, made triple AAA. Needed to sit him down a game to slow him down a game to slow him down a little bit trying to pull his teammates to his level.

I'm trying to wrap my mind around 16u parents staying for the practice.

Some of us drive several hours to practice, and the last thing I want to do after driving 180 miles to practice is drop her off and drive somewhere else in a town I am not too familiar with. I usually get the chair out, pull out the kindle or ipad and casually observe while I read or watch something. If practice were 15 minutes from the house, maybe I would feel differently.

But, to answer OP, your DD needs to find a team of like-minded players and coaches. We went through that a few years ago when DD was younger and a decent team she was on had 1/2 the team more interested in their basketball tournaments and development than softball. Not that there's anything wrong with playing multiple sports, I just don't think you can play two sports at the A travel level like they tried. Something had to give, and it was softball for them so we left. Not anything personal or any hard feelings, just different levels of their idea of commitment and work vs ours.

Honesty, that is a little wore some.

We're either a 45 minute drive or 70 minute drive to her practice fields. It's not practical to drop-off and go back home for TB practices like I do with her rec team. I'm quiet as a church mouse when I do watch practices, but she is at that stage in life where she wants some independence -- "go away dad, but pick me up on time!" Her basketball practices have been closed to parents since 4th grade and I think there is a lot of wisdom of coaches having closed practices.
