Amazing Kids

We just played 6 games in 26 hours with temps around 108 on turf with 10 players and after the game they were complaining that we cancelled practice for Monday night. I am constantly amazed at the drive and spirit of these kids. Not only that but it's not just our team. I see it in almost every team we play in every game. Not only do they play hard in extreme conditions, but the vast majority as nice humble kids who take sportsmanship seriously. I don't know how many times I've witnessed a kid after the game asking an opposing player if they are OK and saying they were sorry for what happened (always just part of the play). We had a player this weekend go out of his way to ask how our pitcher was the next day after getting hit on the knee with a hard shot. Another coach asked how our player was who was hurt 2 months ago when we played them. While we sometimes will see the bad stories of bad sportsmanship, I am amazed at how many great kids there are out there playing this game. I have no doubt that most of them will grow up to be respected members of the community.
