I come from HS and teach at local rec departments via the governments, and the ASA NFHS training, etc. is not geared towards different genders. I would get in trouble if I made gender specific comments, same as the math teacher can't teach differently based on gender.

I guess it is our approach to just make lesson plans and teach in ways that both genders (kids we are talking here) relate to. The same way as I would not talk to a kid about height or weight (aside from a health risk) or what advantages or disadvantages they have because of that. I just teach them to hit. Now of course, you can tailor approaches to individuals and also talk about their results (ie, you are a fast runner).

Nano is correct...good pitchers, whether male or female, pitch the same.

Denny teaches the same pitching mechanics as all good pitching instructors teach. He has no special secret formula...he teaches: 1) IR, 2) Good leg drive, 3) Front side resistance and 4) good body/arm synchronization.

Denny may have great skills in communicating these concepts, and he may be a great teacher...but, he has no super secret to pitching.

His web site contains the kind of general, vapid statements that make parents say, "Oh, I get it", but they really have no meaning...

TincherPitching encourages a loose and fluid pitching motion,

In the 20+ years I've been involved with softball pitching, I've never seen anyone ever recommend "rigid" pitching.

with the emphasis on utilizing the female body in the way it was designed

Hmm...exactly how would someone pitch using the female body in a way it was not designed?

so that it can build energy from the ground upward and allow the free flow of energy from the legs to the fingertips.

This a rather long and convoluted way of saying, "Momentum transfer is the key to pitching."

We all know that the best pitchers make it look effortless and they appear to get far more out of the pitch than they put into it.

I've watched lots of softball (perhaps too much), and I have yet to see a pitcher (including Denny's DD) not working their a** off pitching.

My daughter is 9 and started with Denny's methods two year ago. She is so much more natural (IR) than what the ex college girls teach at our indoor facility around NOVA. Denny's certified trainer Mike is good, we have used his a few times over past three months. Wish I lived near hillhouse, but Mike will do for now until I see how my DD develops over next couple years.

Did you see Denny first or go straight to Mike? Just curious because Mike is who I was referencing when I mentioned the certified coaches in the area. Suzy is one too but she likes to stick with hitting from what I gather.

I used Denny for our first lesson, then Mike ever since. Suzy is all about hitting. They work out of Lorton a lot, you should be able to get with him where you are located. Mike's daughter pitches as well, he is very good at communicating with the girls.
