One of the gaps I see between practice and games is when practices are not facilitated in a diligent time frame. Wasted time during what could otherwise be better facilitated. Lollygagging during practice stuff happens.
Includes Lack of focus and application.

Then when game time comes they're not as prepared to focus within the time frame of games. Which many games are such short games lollygagging and lack of focus can immediately be detrimental. Particularly because have to step on the field and immediately be prepared and focus for an entire 80 minutes' ish.

Definitely can see when some teams are more physically and mentally present than other teams.

Falls in line with what is commonly said around here; training is the time to tell your batter she's dropping her elbow. Gametime is when you tell your batter to give it a ride.
I see it in games all the time. Batter swings and misses. Steps out of the box and looks down to the coach for the sign. Coach says to batter, "You're pulling your head out, or your shoulder out, or dropping your hands" or some other swing tip that is actually counterproductive when it comes to hitting the ball.
