We are very excited to announce that THE NEW ENGLAND CATCHING CAMP will be returning to the Lone Star State! We have partnered with the Texas Patriots organization and The Competitive Edge Sports indoor training center to conduct a catching camp and clinics Dec 15th–16th 2012 at the Patriots’ field located at 29327 South Plum Creek Dr. Spring, TX 77386 and the Competitive Edge facility located at 2733 Rayford Rd. Spring, TX . Jay and Kevin Weaver, the Director and Senior Instructor of the camp, will conduct clinics, for both baseball and fast pitch softball, ages 8-18.
Because of the incredible response we received last year, we will be offering a two-day, 3-session (two-hours each session) camp this year! The 6-hour camp will be cumulative and will cover every aspect of the catching position including stances, receiving, blocking, throwing (arm motion and mechanics on throws to the bases) and all fielding skills. Each catcher will be held to a standard that parallels their skill level. Coach Jay Weaver and his staff will have the ability to challenge the older catchers throughout the weekend with higher velocities (85+ MPH for the guys, 65+ MPH out of a windmill for the girls).
The 2.5-hour clinics on Saturday and Sunday will consist of instruction on all aspects of catching skills including stances, receiving, blocking, throwing (mostly mechanics on throws to the bases) and some fielding skills. There will also be a 1.5-hour review session for all those students who attended a standard clinic over the weekend, but wanted more reps with receiving, blocking and throwing and couldn’t commit to the 2-day camp (ages 8-18, baseball & softball). Registrants for the review session on Sunday MUST have attended one of the 2.5-hour clinics held on Saturday or Sunday.
Weekend Camp ($200):
Session 1 runs from 8am-10am on Saturday @ The Edge (stance, receiving, blocking)
Session 2 runs from 6pm-8pm on Saturday @ The Edge (throwing; arm motion and mechanics)
Session 3 runs from 2:30pm-4:30pm on Sunday outside @ Field (general review of sessions 1&2 and fielding)
Standard Clinic Sessions: ($75 each 2.5-hour session) - receiving, blocking, throwing and some fielding:
