Situation-runners on 2nd and 3rd, batter gets ball four, pitcher has ball in circle and batter/runner continued thru first base straight to second base. At what point would the runner be out. After all players being confused it ended up, runner on third scored and runners on second and third.

Runner wouldn't be out until someone tags her out or she violates the look-back rule (assuming the pitcher never attempts to make a play on her).

So you can have two people standing on second base, cause if the pitcher doesn't make a play that would b the situation. Would the runner be called out if she, at any point, returns to first base

OK..... so....

@mmeece is correct...

With the LBR, the runner is entitled to continue moving in the direction they are going with ONE change of direction...
  • So if the runner gets to second and stops and there are now two runners on 2B she is out as she has violated the LBR as she is no longer moving in the original direction, nor has she immediately changed direction and because she is not entitled to that base.
  • However, If the runner gets to second, immediately realizes there is another runner there and heads straight back to first, she is entitled to do so (obviously at risk as she does so).

    @soonerfan1966 I am not sure how the runners managed to score here or how or when the runner ended up on third? Did they take off because they saw the runner coming or something? Because that adds a whole new layer of issues to deal with. Feels like your scenario is missing some additional details.

Only one umpire behind the pitcher was probably the biggest problem. Guess my questions are what constitutes "make a play on the runner( she raised the ball as if to throw)" and if our pitcher just holds the ball the b/r is out on second base(occupied) if she doesn't immediately return to first base. Not gonna discuss if the "make a play" happened before the other 2 runners left their bases.

Not exactly the runner is out where ever she stops, if she does not immediately return to first. Or if she passes the runner at second with out stopping. If the pitcher fakes a throw, or makes a throw before she comes to a stop the LBR is lifted and the runner at third can advance.

if she rasied the ball as if to throw, this is making a play, LBR is off, all runners are free to do as they please basically.
