This is a journey i've been on for awhile. Recently found these and am a fan - super comfortable. They don't have a leather upper but its not mesh like described above so sand will stay out. They're also a little wider than the typical Nike so they work well with my feet. Also come in a few different colors and the 60 buck price tag is reasonable when compared to some of the other models out there. Good luck with your search.
