Age rule clarification

DD birthdate is 6/06/10. Can she be added to a 10U roster in USSSA for the season of 2022 (current season)?

From the USSSA rulebook:
A player’s age on December 31, of the previous sanction year determines the age classification in which the player is eligible to participate.

So she was 10 on 12/31/20. I guess my other question is what is considered a "sanction year"?

Nevermind...I should have read more:

Sec 3. The Fastpitch season and Team registration will run from August 1 Until July 31. Tournaments and leagues played after August 1, will qualify teams for the following summer’s State and World Series Tournaments. All teams playing between August 1 and December 31 must play by the current year’s eligibility classifications.

Nope, but in your defense, this isn't very well written...

From the USSSA rulebook: "A player’s age on December 31, of the previous sanction year (which ends on July 31st) determines the age classification in which the player is eligible to participate. For example, a player who turns 11 on December 30th, 2019 must play 11U or older in the USSSA 2020 event year which began on August 1st, 2019."

Your DD was eligible for 10U for the 2021 season because she was still 10 years old on 12/31/20. On 12/31/21, she'll be 11 years old. She needs to play 11U or older. Here's an age eligibility calculator...

I want to piggyback on this with a question I read somewhere it may be possible to petition to allow for birthday allowance in certain circumstances. Ex: player is born 12-27-2010… isn’t developed enough to play in birth year age division. Is that true?

not that I have ever seen. pretty concrete rules.
