18U Guest Player(s) needed:
The Pittsburgh Tigers 05 team is participating in the Shamrocks Showcase tournament (18U DIvision) on 8/6 and 8/7 in Manassas, VA. Due to an injury and conflicts with our team, we are looking for a guest player or two to play with us this weekend. We play at 11:30, 1:00 and 2:30 on Saturday. Not looking for a specific position but ability to play C/OF would be ideal.

Dang! Showcases already starting during Tryout season? Trouts usually start this weekend and then take a little break. Then the round robins start up in Sept. What is the rule for D1 coaches observing SA's during this period? When does Fall season start where they can only observe in person for 6 weekends?

I'm believe the dates in Blue are the limited contact period. We competed in this tournament last year. There is a camp on Friday and the tournament Sat/Sun. DI, DII and DIII coaches all in attendance. It's a great format and, being late in the year, is high quality in terms of getting looks from coaches. In our area, tryouts started, mainly younger groups, in early July. Which is much too early IMO.

The local Softball Illuminati would remind coaches that Tryouts for legit teams cannot begin until week after the Last Nationals are played (PGF, Alliance). 10u, 12U go for it.
