Well........
Zero backwards K's! Which was our goal for the tourney!
BUT, several golf swings and two girls I thought for a second that they actually left their feet to reach a ball above their heads!..
We used some jugs lite-flite balls and threw several pitches directly at them to discourage...
We are instilling in the girls heads that fall ball is just "live practice". We never get down on our girls for trying, just when they don't.
Our team isn't concerned about wins or losses right now but our three words for the fall..... focus, attack, and flush.
Focus-Pay attention at all...
Thanks for all the tips. I'm sure it will get better but as a parent and coach, we all want immediate results! Its just tough seeing the girls do so well in practice and then just shut down during games.
Looks like bribes might have to be something we introduce this weekend. I'll put away...
That's a really good drill to see if they are even looking at the ball or are just swinging just to swing. Will definitely try that. Thanks!
My daughter has worked with the total control balls with her hitting coach but we don't have those with our team yet. I didn't know exactly what they...
I like the idea of the hit and run. Makes them feel like they are needed besides just getting a hit. Only thing about that is what if no one is on. I guess I could say "You hit, you run!"
We will try to get more live pitching from outside sources. We haven't had the best of luck with...
We have a fairly new 10U team. 7 girls just moved up from coach pitch 8U, the other 4 are returning 10u girls. We have one designated hitting practice a week, involving soft toss, t-work, bunting, and machine pitching hitting. All the girls do good/great during practice. I even turn the machine...
I like those but I came across the turboslot I, which I like a little better because of the padding that pushes the bat back out of the box grip. But of course, I can't find them for sale anywhere!
Changed my daughters grip a little. The grip was too deep. Made sure knuckles were where they should be and having her attack the ball instead of the ball attacking the bat. Her thumb doesn't hurt any more but she said she thought she still needed new batting gloves! (Dollar Destroyer!) Of...
My 9y old daughter is switching from righty to left slap hitter and complained that her thumb hurt after her lesson. She wears regular batting gloves. She has skinny/boney fingers.
Should I get her a padded batting glove to use through this learning process? If so, any suggestions as to a good...
