Thank you Poseidon for that info. That's what I needed. We love to find a reason to go to the Twin Cities. I will call them as soon as they open today!! Thanks to all who replied.

HITTER, that is an excellent idea and I smacked my forehead when I read it. Why didn't I think of that? We have a junior college 25 miles from here. I know the coach well and I'm sure he'll let us try some of his bats. I'm thinking he gets his bats mostly from Worth, but it's worth a try...
SBFamily, at the risk of hijacking my own thread, which of the bats I mentioned is end loaded? (I don't mean for that question to be snippy. When I re-read it, it sort of sounds that way) The Stealth and Synergy both felt like balanced bats. Regardless, she has no issues with her swing. Very...
We live in rural NW Iowa. Time to get DD a new bat. In the past we have always just looked online, found one that looks neat, and bought it. I would really like to take her to a place where she can try out several different bats rather than just getting a neat looking bat. Do you suggest a...
I prefer to keep it very very simple. While all of the suggestions are good, sometimes what we say doesn't always mean the same thing to them as it does to us. I tell them, "You can't hit it if you can't see it". In other words, don't worry about having perfect form and motion. See the ball...
Our 2007 Stealth flexed at the joint as well. The more it was used the more it flexed. I was certain it was broken, but the girls kept hitting with it. It finally became two pieces the other day. Every girl who hit a homerun with it went to the burial ceremony at the flagpole. (Not kidding!)...
Great question. One I have pondered myself. In fact, I taught all of my players to hit, bunt, and slap from both sides of the plate. Keep the D guessing. I would guess that those wiser then me, the majority, will give a decent reason not to. But, I sure haven't seen a downside, as long as...
It seems I'm in the minority on this one. Whether it has been travel ball or HS ball my daughter, and the other players, have always shared. Perhaps your high schools are different from ours but the girls share the batting helmets there, as well.
I don't see sharing equipment as an issue...
My DD has had left knee pain for about 2 years. I've always given her the ol' "suck it up kid, you'll be fine". Ice and ibuprofen and we kept going forward. This winter she again began with the knee pain line. Okay, says I, and took her to a sports ortho the other day. Doc says that he is...
Our HS team keeps it simple. When my DD started varsity as an 8th grader the coach didn't know much about pitching and what to call or when to call it. So, he let her call the game. Next year's new coach was a pitcher in college, but because my DD called the game the previous year she let her do...
Keep it on! I say that now, I just wish I had said that 2 weeks ago. My DD catcher attempted a pick off at third. Runner headed home. My DD had her helmet off waiting for the throw. Throw comes from 3rd and skips off the top of the runner's helmet, directly to the bridge of my DD's nose. Lots...
This is a sore issue for me. Not the issue exactly, but regarding this issue. A HS coach in our conference always shouts out to his batter as soon as our catcher moves in or out. No matter how late she moves he shouts it out. I "had words" with him after one of our games with him. He said that...
Ah yes, hitting changeups. Same trouble for her as a slow pitcher. Fortunately, very few girls in our area throw a decent one or my DD would get burned more often. If it's a really slow changeup she can make the adjustment and give it a poke. But, a decent changeup will usually get her to...
'08 Rocket Tech vs '07 Stealth
My DD has used a Stealth for the last 2 seasons. She hit 10 HR's last year as a sophomore. She has loads of power. As hitting in the gym is in full swing I have asked her to use the '08 Rocket Tech that the school bought last year. It was rarely ever used it so...
Perhaps it's a regional thing?
I have read each of the replies and considered them. Let me say, if I wasn't clear in the OP, the girls I'm talking about all play varsity ball. I'm not talking about 10-12 year olds.
We had our state tournament here in Iowa this weekend. Our team made it to...
Sluggers, I don't appreciate your condescending tone. I'm actually looking for positive input to help me understand why it isn't used in my area. Now, I'm guessing you aren't in my area, so you don't really know how the teams in my area play. Why not be aggressive and do something that isn't...
Mark, in these parts we have only met one team who defended this. Between HS ball and ASA tourneys we have played a TON of games, and just the one team stopped us.
And the way they stopped us was by doing just what 3'sDad said. Just wondering why more teams don't use it.
