    Weekly lessons with a pitching coach and a regular workout routine that includes cardio and light weight lifting. Bottom line is, the best workout for a pitcher is to throw at least once or more a week all year long.

    Is she on a travel team that has winter practices? The most important thing for pitchers to work on in the off season is pitching! At least 2 or more times a week, as well as staying in shape. If she is a good athlete, I would encourage her to try out for another sport or swimming.

    Exactly my point...To be clear I never meant to give up on them, but like you said, just put them on the same team with other players that are still developing. It's the mix with the "A" players just that's an accident waiting to happen.

    There are tons of great books, but I would recommend going through ACE coaching certification. There are 4 levels with great videos and questions at each level.. Many leagues also ACE certification: Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA)
