    Curveball grips

Do you teach that grip for both curve and rise?

Statement from USSSA on age cutoffs

I think the obvious point is no it isn't the same for everyone now. Of the big four sanctions we have one using Jan 1 absolutely (USSSA), one that mostly uses Jan 1 (PGF), and the other two are using Sept 1. Yeah that does seem logical.

Statement from USSSA on age cutoffs

That is interesting and something I hadn't thought of. Why doesn't the cutoff match the start of the season?

    U.S.A./USSSA age chart changes

I think the argument against is could be playing older kids if held back. But the fact is those are kids they will be competing against entire school ball career (unless they age out) and for spots on college teams. Not sure there is right answer, but current state of things doesn't make...

    U.S.A./USSSA age chart changes

Right which begs the question why did USA, PG, and a few smaller associations make the change? I just wish they would all get on the same page, whichever one that is.

    U.S.A./USSSA age chart changes

Has anyone heard anything lately about the age changes for next year? Heard couple organizations have told their teams USSSA will make the change for next year. Assuming someone reached out for feedback or to give them a head's up. I think the bigger question is PGF where teams are less...

    Dropped third strike play

The only other possibility I thought of is the fielder not attempting to field or throw after contact. Several years ago had a scenario runner stealing third batter steps out of the box and gets in way of catcher. I assumed she was out, but fortunately for us the umpire didn't know if the...

    Dropped third strike play

Is there any circumstance in which the runner can make contact with a fielder trying to make a play on a groundball and it not be interference? Watched this happen between couple of DD games few weeks ago. 2B charges groundball and runner from first collides with her, but base ump says...

    First PGF, What to expect.....

Your pool was brutal. Vipers ended up 2nd in tournament after going 0-2 in pool LOL.

    First PGF, What to expect.....

Didn't know she switched teams. Which LD team? Saw her old Newtown team is doing both Bandits in few weeks and Super Select. You all going also?

    Pocket Radar readings

Count me in. That's for the vote to allow him back, not the donation to the TB fund. I've got enough of my own expenses there. :ROFLMAO:

    Swing adjustments

Jenna Laird (from Mizzou) actually tried to hit this way in all counts this year. Their hitting coach came from OSU and saw an interview he did early in the season explaining how he thought she could hit for much higher average. Basically resulted in no power. I'm not sure where along the way...

    Video pitching lessons

She has several students in the Midwest, so guessing most of those are done remotely since she is in NY I believe. I was recently told one of the pitchers she claims (who just committed to a P5 school) only sees her in-person once a year and then also works with a local guy some (he also claims...

    Slap Hitters

I watched a coach turn a girl around because he felt like the lineup needed more diversity. Found the smallest girl who wasn't great hitter, but also wasn't very fast. She got really good at chopping ground balls to left side which resulted in about .100 average with no walks. Unlikely she...

Pitching Technique Question HE -> IR

Some golf swing methods are different but I would say in most of them the elbow drives towards/into the ribs at the same time the hips are separating from the shoulders which creates lag very similar to whip in pitching.

Pitching Technique Question HE -> IR

I think the right arm (for RH pitcher), hips, core, and legs have so many similarities to golf swing when both are done properly. The biggest difference is those motions happen in the middle of launching forward in pitching, which requires lot more athleticism. Also the ability to slightly...

    76 mph

Agree I think that idea makes perfect sense. But I also know from other sports a concept that improves one part of the motion can have other negative effects downstream. So yes they do produce more forward motion, but it also isn't a broad jump competition. That's why I'll be curious how some...

How long did it take to learn control on curve ball?

My DD learned it in about an hour no joke. Versus changeup that is still a struggle despite about 10k reps.....lol. Drop and Rise are both still hit or miss years into it. I think every pitcher is different and some get every movement pitch easily and others have hard time even getting one...

    76 mph

Very interesting point and something I hadn't considered. Also would note the ball is larger. Practically speaking an umpire might call the zone the same regardless, but in reality more pitch locations (ie center of the ball) should catch a piece of the zone in softball and thus be called a...

    76 mph

I don't have a link, but she is all over Facebook and has a website. bsbs is right she wants hips to stay square as long as possible and landing toe more at a 45 than perpendicular to the power line. She is also very much anti-HE and uses term IR. For while thought she might be a poster on...
