Any tips for propane heater setups in these cold early spring games?

I have a heated vest (past Christmas gift), rechargeable handwarmers, Uggs, and an Outdoor Research parka rated for 35 degrees or so. I'm in SoCal and I know it's not as bad in other areas but it does get cold and windy in the mornings and night in the desert area here. We have a camping heater...

Player Age when 1 grade lower

I was going to comment this as well. It sounds like the OP is from So Cal. There are enough teams with players in similar situations that dark teams form. My DD's team (they are only 12U) have at least 3 players (out of 12) that this would apply to if they were older.

Pants for a tall, athletic girl?

If my daughter's organization allowed us to pick anything, I'd probably try the Gluv Softball pants. I may try to buy a pair and sneak it in. :) I've seen several teams wearing them at different tournaments and they look really comfortable and appear to have a decent length (no kneevidge). My...

    College has some

Definitely agree, they get the experience and adventure of being away and may want to head back home. Might be they've gotten it out of their system, the reality doesn't match the vision, homesick, etc.

    College has some

Forgot to add, I know a currently highly recruited class of 2025 pitcher. She did go tour SDSU but was not impressed with their facilities. Definite curb appeal turn-off. And yes @RADcatcher, the Pokerface appears to be a turn-off as having a coach's enthusiasm makes the player and the parents...

    College has some

Does anyone remember being a 17 or 18yr old with their future in front of them and the chance to live AWAY from your parents? These women have a chance to play in a great program at a school with great curb appeal and experience college life. Why wouldn't they go to college out of state instead...

    Rude Parents

It's not exactly pretty at 12U TB but the parents are generally okay (had one thrown out last summer for cursing at one of our girls). I didn't realize it continues on. I thought it toned down as they got older. :(

    Coolest outfield sunglasses?

My DD got a pair of Oakley Flak 2.0 about a year ago and completely ignored them, although they are great. She prefers the Oakley Sutro, which is what several of the girls on her team have.

    The coaches daughter

For the whole coach's daughter thing, I think from the discussions here that it's all relative to the individuals (coaches and players). I've seen coaches that play their daughters when there were better players benched. I've also seen coach's daughters sitting on the bench b/c they were not...

    The coaches daughter

At least you are coaches... I do this as a parent. o_O

What's more valuable, practices or games?

I'm 100% for this. DD plays catcher and outfield, I want her to be in the different positions (would be great to learn the strategies behind 3rd) for flexibility.

    Errors vs hits in scoring

We have a slapper on my DD's team and I see the work she puts in. Those are often not errors on the fielder but incredible slaps getting that bounce down. I rarely score them as error when done right and the fielders can't handle it. We had a tournament game where the opposing team was...

    Errors vs hits in scoring

I've been "gifted" with the official scoring for my team. Parents that have issues with the scoring, I will often try to review the feed b/c the apps aren't always the best and we've just recently move from GC to AGL for scoring (there's a learning curve). If it's obvious it wasn't an error, I...

    Public Service Announcement

I actually had this exact question. Runner on 1st and 2nd. Runner on 2nd steals 3rd and catcher or pitcher tries to catch them but fails (ball is thrown but arrives too late). Runner on 1st takes advantage of this and runs to 2nd. The runner on 3rd stole the base. I had thought it was defensive...

Throwing the ball around after outs

I'm not sure in the higher levels, but my daughter started her 1st year in TB with a competitive 2011 team last year. One of the reasons they are competitive is b/c some of the girls expect a lot from themselves and carry a lot of weight on their shoulders. These were 10-11yrs olds at the end of...

Tips for switching to a National Team

Red, white and blue :) Glad to hear they are sticking with the same colors, would've stunk to have to buy all new everything.

Tips for switching to a National Team

Hmm... sound like So Cal Athletics = Athletics Mercado, Wildcats = USA Athletics = Corona Angels = everyone else that's r/w/b. Geez there's a lot of r/w/b teams

Tips for switching to a National Team

Our org had open tryouts also (12u&14u, 16u&18u). I think it's smart. Yes, you probably know who you want to pull from your existing teams, but it doesn't hurt to see if there's other talent either wanting to move orgs or levels. And no, don't feel hurt if you don't get an offer. :\

Tryouts for anyone this time of year? Coming up January?

Middles and Corners, so just need 7 of the 9 spots filled.
