My daughter just took over a rec ball 10U team. They are awful to the point of embarrassment. One of their pitchers struck out eight girls in one inning, and not one of those resulted in an out. All were dropped third strikes that the runner was called safe.
It was confirmed she needs surgery since her nose is so disjointed and screwed up. She has to wait a while for the swelling to go down, but the doctor said she can play next week with a mask. Apparently, they're moving her to CF until she's 100%.
So, it turned out she didn't have a concussion, which is a good thing, but the swelling is still so bad they can't do any repairs yet. She now has two black eyes, also.
We had an incident about ten years ago where a baseball coach died on the field after being hit with a line drive while pitching batting practice. Apparently, he was behind an L Screen, but the ball somehow still hit him. That was one of the things that prompted the rule that coaches had to wear...
This was an away game, so it wasn't our district. We usually have the trainer driving between our fields, but they're all on the same campus. The AT at the other district was covering the MS and HS.
I saw pictures of her face that were taken at the hospital last night. She now looks like Nicko...
Can I assume you mean in regards to health and safety? If so, that's a good question. I know when I was a coach inside a larger baseball organization, we all had to have current CPR training and carry at least one first aid kit for the team.
What bothered me was neither of the coaches did...
So, this topic relates to something which occurred during a HS game today. I want to know how everyone feels about being at their daughter's games, and what would you do if she got injured.
Today's game saw our 3B take a wicked hop off the dirt to the face. The girl dropped to the ground...
Me and Pattar were discussing this, but then we looked at their schedules. Miami has played a very good slate of teams, so they are doing it against real competition.
How absurd has this gotten? Has anyone noticed Game Changer no longer refers to softball players as "she" in the write-up? Now it says "they" instead. My daughter is a singular female, not a they...
So you think males don't have an advantage in sports over females? If the kids are between 5 and 10, I would agree with you. By the time they get to HS, there is a huge difference. The video I posted a while back in the thread was of Serena Williams admitting she would lose a tennis match...
That's true and plays to my point. Those girls could swing a broom handle and hit them out. I would also bet most of them never swung a Mizuno before getting to college, but I am sure they had excellent instruction on how to perfect their swings.
You nailed it with this comment. As an example, I was going to reference the women's national soccer team getting beat by a bunch of 14-15-year-old boys, 5-2, but the Will Thomas climb in the rankings is another excellent example.
