Please bare with me...
DD#2 (11 yo)was born with too much bone in her ankle (tarsal coalition). We knew she would have a surgery one day, just didn't know when. Well, this spring, the Doc said it was time. DD had been hurting a good bit in recent months.
The choice my wife and I had was...
I tried to search for this, but came up empty.
Is there a correlation to the speed of an overhand throw vs the pitching speed? Should the pitching speed, generally be more than the overhand throw?
Thanks in advance.
Looks like the SEC has put it's firm grip on D1 Softball. 7 of 8 SR have SEC teams in them. 8 of 16 teams left are SEC. The lone SR without a SEC team in it, COULDN'T have one in it.
How many SEC teams make the CWS? For sanity sake, I hope it's not 7. :D
Is this how it was with the PAC...
Playoff game. Pretty fast pitcher that could occasionally have issues with control.
0-2 count on the batter. Pitch #3 is WAY outside and in the dirt. Batter gives a lazy swing and bolts to 1st. Makes it by a mile.
My first thought was "why swing at that". Then, watching the sly grin...
My DD brought home her CF6 bat and told me it had cracked. Her teammate was using it while DD was taking outfield work. When DD went to bat, she said it sounded funny. after a few swings, she noticed the crack.
I looked at the bat and it has 3 diagonal, deep scratches along the barrel...
Pardon the brag, but DD#1 got her 1st career no hitter yesterday. I'll admit it was against a weak HS team and it was a run rule shorten 3 inning game, but she didn't allow a hit. 1 walk in a 12 pitch AB kept her from a perfect game.
She's not an Ace by any means, but holding her own as an...
No, this isn't about her playing 4u TB. :D My wife and I were discussing about signing her (DD#3) up for T-ball again this year. We asked her if she wants to play again and she got all excited. She said, "I'm going to hit the ball, run, and play in the dirt." :D
At least she's honest about...
DD has had a poor swing for years. She's also a pitcher and that's really taken away from hitting practice. Something finally clicked here recently and she's doing a much better job at staying connected.

She's not landing her...
Either I've paid more attention, or within a small sample plan, I've seen more of the following lately:
Batted ball fielded by F5 or F6, the throw to 1st carries F3 toward or in the baseline and home plate as the runner is approaching.
What are the rules to this type of play.
Thanks
I couldn't decide to put this on the coaches or parents form, but wanted feedback from both, so I put it here. If it needs to be moved, please do so.
This is DD's first year in TB. We joined a 12u team mid season. They needed another pitcher and asked us to join for the remainder of the...
We've been working religiously on DD's forward lean every since it was pointed out to me on this forum. (Much appreciated.)
During lessons and practices, she usually gets her weight behind the ball. She notices the extra speed she gets. She knows why she needs to do it. Never complains...
DD started going to a PC for the 1st time. He teaches HE, but doesn't stress it. He's done good about getting her lower body more in sync and getting her weight back more at release. She use to have a good bit of forward lean. She use to have a decent amount of natural drop to her pitch...
I'm umping a coach pitch rec game. R1 on 2nd R2 on 1st. 0 outs. Batter hits fly ball to shallow center, both runners start to advance. Center fielder makes the catch and throws to 3rd. 3B knows what's going on and throws to 2nd for the out. R1 and R2 are in the process of returning to their...
Was working with DD over the weekend. One thing we are really working on is pitch location. Yesterday, she asked what is probably a simple question, but had me stumped.
She asked, "How do I throw to a certain spot?" Now, when I throw to a spot, I just throw to a spot. I really don't know...
My DD's PC showed her a change up yesterday. It's, what I would call a back hand change (not sure the real name). Anyway, I was catching her today and she started throwing it pretty good. When she threw low and outside, it had a few inches of movement (away from a RH batter and a little...
Looking to buy a CF6. I've read about the $160 prices, but haven't found them myself. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places.
Any advice on wear to find the best deal?
Thanks in advance.
DD is a 7th grader, but has played in every Varsity game this year. She got her 2nd start this year and her 1st win.
She wasn't dominate and didn't miss very many bats, but her defense played their best game of the year. They robbed at least 3 hits that could have very well changed the...
Well, it was a surprise to me anyway.
We started the HS season this weekend. DD (12yo) drew a start at SS for the 1st game and played like a 7th grader playing their 1st HS game. Made 2 errors on routine plays. Walked in her only AB. Got run ruled in the 4th.
I haven't got work with DD...
UPDATE ON PAGE 2.
She's never had formal lessons. I haven't found a coach that's heard of I/R, so we're going at it alone for now. She pitched for rec last year and made the varsity team this year (7th grader). I was hoping this pitching bug would pass, but she's in it, so I will support...
I've been coaching my oldest DD in rec ball for the past 4 years. I've always been very conscious of treating the team fairly and not having a "Daddy ball" team. I can honestly say that up to this point, I get more complaints about her lack of playing time as to the opposite.
This year, we...
