Umpire incorrectly calls 3 outs in an inning
This happened in my granddaughter's 14U travel ball game. The actual situation was 1 out and a runner on first. I don't know the exact inning but it was before the 7th and within the game time limits. The batter hits ground ball to SS who throws to first for the out. The base runner moves to...- going2

BretMan you are absolutely correct that I mixed up inference and obstruction. I try to keep the difference straight with the acronym RIFO - Runners Interfere, Fielders Obstruct I guess my mind went blank.- going2

I thought the call would be obstruction. SS has the ball and can block access to the base. if a runner contacts SS, the runner obstructed. Whether SS is looking at the runner or not should have no bearing on the call. the out of baseline plays seems to me to be 50-50. I agree that 3 feet is a...- going2
