Softball is what kept my girl going honestly. It's always been her outlet, her happy place. She hates online school and feels like she just keeps getting behind more and more. Her grades have slipped a bit but they are still good. Always been a straight A student and she got an 89% in AP...
My daughter catches roughly 5-6 pitchers a week. Sometimes they slip her a little cash, most the time it's Starbucks gift cards or food. Needless to say, we rarely pay for Starbucks and she has saved enough up to by herself a new laptop.
My daughter has a cage bat. A DeMarini rep near us was selling their "trial" bats for $65. Picked up a brand new Phoenix and one that has seen better days. We were just going to get one but we couldn't pass up the new bat.
She uses the older one in bad weather and the cages.
We had 3 teams picked out to try out for and were invited to the other three. We have seen them around at tournaments a d are well respected teams. However invites are hard to get from them and when it was offered, we discussed it and agreed to try out.
We are going with the team closest to...
Looks great!
I have the opposite problem. Mine just turned 11 and is all of 4'5" if even that. Haven't been able to find a decent small set yet. The 12.5" are almost too small but the 13" are way too big.
Team three is the team she has wanted to play for for the last two years. This is the first year I have been able to financially afford it for her. However she is not willing to give up her catchers position as she has very high goals for herself as a catcher.
I have sent out emails asking...
My daughter just turned 11. She sat half the season and spent that time on crutches because of spraining the ligaments in her knee.
So tryouts were coming up quickly and a week before they started, she was given the go a head to try out, but no squating to catch for longer than 30 minutes or...
I am going to miss watching her play
She is an amazing player but bad coaching has taken her love for the game. She has never had a greay coach who believed in her. We have always kept her in private hitting, fielding, and pitching lessons and after her last game, have been contacted by four...
My 13 year old decided 8 weeks ago she was done playing softball but agreed to continue playing with her team until the season was over.
So for the last 8 weeks she has worked her butt off at practices, she has cheered her team on from the bench, she has played whatever position her coach told...
Does anyone know how I can get in contact with All Star abouft getting a smaller version of the set made? I tried the number I found online but it just rang with no voicemail.
My daughter tried them on and loved the feel of the leg protectors but they don't make them in her size. She needs a...
She does homework between school and practice. At 10, she doesn't generally have much homework. She did correct me on the length of their practices, she said they range from 2-3 hours as she generally stays and is the last on the field. She told me it just seems longer because I sit on the...
A few questions...
If you join a team halfway thru the season, do you still normally get charged full fees?
If you leave a team halfway thru the season, is a refund normally given?
My daughter's team has both of these situations come up and parents are wondering how these situations are...
We are in the Northwest as well. We may have played against each other :-)
Some of these 12u girls are huge! We played a team in April where 4 of their girls were over 6' and the shortest player was 5'5". We joked that they had driven themselves to our game. My daughter didn't even come up...
I am not sure what the normal amount of time is per game that most catchers catch. She has been catching since she picked up the mitt and has very rarely ever had a backup catcher. Normally it has been when she needs a break that they normally put in the next best they have available. However...
My daughter is 10 but turns 11 July 28th. She is a small 10 standing at only 4'4". This is her first year playing 12u and her fourth total year total. This year she has been injured with bone bruises and pulled ligaments. I am almost feeling like I should have left her in 10u but we tried...
My 13 year old pitched great this weekend, she is improving with every tournament :-)
My 10 year old was selected to play in Florida for the Northwest USA Futures 10u team as catcher.
So proud of both my girls!
We tend to stay at comfort suites and their neighbor hotels. Sometimes it rocks the boat a little as it isn't the team hotel but we spend at least two weekends a month in a hotel right now and they offer us points. Stay a certain amount of nights, get free nights. Breakfast is always good...
Runner had no time to avoid her. She had her lead off when the pitcher released the ball, heard it hit the bat and took off. Only way a collision could have been avoided would have been if she could have jumped over her. Even running around her at that distance would have resulted in them...
My 10 year old loves her Easton gear and can comfortably wear it all weekend. Only thing we ever have to do to maintain it is to redo the removeable inserts every few months as she pounds them flat blocking. But it costs about $5 once every 2-3 months to keep her well padded.
